Applied Research and Technology Project Office The Applied Research and Technology Project Office (ARTPO) mission is to provide world-class project management to support NASA's science and technology goals. ARTPO continues to support NASA's Applied Sciences Program through the Crosscutting Gulf of Mexico Coastal Program. NASA Headquarters' Science Mission Directorate establishes program priorities; the Earth Science Division at NASA Headquarters conducts program planning and solicitations; and the Applied Research and Technology Project Office at Stennis Space Center contracts with competitively selected partner organizations and implements the projects on which the partners work. The products of these partnerships are applications prototypes that meet user requirements. Partners are engaged through formal solicitations (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs). In addition to sponsorship of external R&D work, ARTPO has internal laboratory and field research capabilities that are applied to remote sensing applications verification and validation projects.
